Talk on 'Practical solutions to Waste Management'
Talk on 'Practical Solutions to Waste Management'The talk on 'Practical Solutions to Waste Management' by Clinton Vaz held on 9th Jan 2010.  The talk was open for all.  Mr. Vaz explained simple solutions to the problem of waste management.  He spoke about how simple it is to compost the organic waste and how interesting it is to earn by selling the inorganic waste.
In the hour long presentation, he also showed some of the best practices in waste management which are followed in rest of the country and world.
Mr. Vaz has also agreed to guide ICG to set up its own composting unit in the premises.

 

Plantating held at the hands of the Children

As part of the Goa Libre, ICG organised a planting ceremony at the hands of the children on the occassion of the Goa Liberation day.
The plant was planted at the hands of Rebecca Dennis D'Souza, Aaron Dennis D'Souza & Prathvi Pramod Naik. All the staff of ICG were present on the occassion.
 

Poster Drawing Competition held
Poster Drawing CompetitionAs part of the 8-day GOA LIBRE - Celebrating 48 years of Goa's Liberation, ICG organised the Poster Drawing Competition.  The participants were shown a 20 min documentary 'Saimakade Samvad' - dialogue with the nature, directed by Ms. Rajeshree Karapurkar.  The students drew the posters based on this documentary.
The competition was held in two categories, one for the students of the Goa College of Art and second for the school students.  In all about 50 students participated in the competition.
A team of judges lead by eminent artist Harshada Kerkar with director of the documentary by Ms. Rajeshree Karapurkar and convenor Shrikant Barve selected the posters for prizes.  Cornelia Sequeira, Gayitri Naik and Vibhav Kamat won the first, second and third prize respectively in the category of students of Goa College of Art.  While Master Kenneth Xavier Da Silva, Master Wedyn Noronha and Miss Riya Mashelkar won the first, second and third prize respectively in the category of school students. Clean Goa for Green Goa launched at ICGHon. Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Digambar Kamat and Hon. Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly & President of International Centre Goa launched the ICG Initiative CLEAN GOA FOR GREEN GOA on 12th Dec 2009 during the inauguration of the Seminar on 'Youth, Media & Democracy' as part of the GOA LIBRE - Celebrating 48 years of Goa's Liberation.
Ms. Nandini Sahai, Director of The International Centre Goa and Dr. Rajeshwar Dyal, Senior Advisor, Friedrish Ebert Stiftung-India were also present at the ceremony. Photo Gallery
