Happymon Jacob is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Shiv Nadar University (SNU), Delhi NCR and one of India’s leading commentators on international affairs. He earlier served on the faculty of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for 17 years. He is also the Founder and Director of the Council for Strategic and Defence Research (CSDR) and editor of India’s World, India’s first dedicated foreign policy magazine. Jacob is the author and editor of several books includingIndia After Nonalignment(Georgetown University Press /Penguin Random House, forthcoming 2026); Line on Fire: Ceasefire Violations; India-Pakistan Escalation Dynamics (Oxford University Press, 2019);and Line of Control: Traveling with the Indian and Pakistani Armies (Penguin Viking, 2018). A regular columnist for Hindustan Times, he is committed to bridging the gap between policy and scholarship.
