The foundation stone for the construction of the Ram Janmbhoomi Temple in Ayodhya was laid in August 2020. The temple – being built in the Nagara style of architecture and held up by 392 columns – is on a eight acre plot and the temple complex covers 70 acres with at least seven other temples. The construction work has involved several challenges, from the design of the temple and the complex to choosing the building materials for construction. This talk by Girish Sahasrabhojanee, who is the design and construction manager for the work, will highlight these and other issues in the building of the Ram Janmbhoomi Temple. Girish Sahasrabhojanee is a BE in Civil Engineering from VNIT and a MTech with specialization in Structural Engineering from IIT-B. A native of Nagpur, he has chosen to be a Goenkar since 1993.
