Dr. Shekhar C. Mande is Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and Director General, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). Before taking up his current position, he was Director, National Centre for Cell Science, Pune. He obtained his BSc and MSc from Nagpur University before earning a PhD from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Dr. Mande has several awards and fellowships to his credit. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, the National Academy of Sciences and the Indian Academy of Sciences. He has also been a Wellcome Trust International Senior Research Fellow. Dr. Mande is an awardee of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Biological Sciences.
